Diary Notes Multimedia and the behavioral study of cicadas

The researchers of the behavioral ecology laboratory at Ewha Women's Univerity, located in Republic of Korea,  are using Diary Notes Multimedia to collect data in a new way.

The research they are conducting is about the spacial and temporal distribution of cicadae, an insect commonly seen in South Korea during summer. In the process, they adopted the methods of "citizen science", where nonprofessional citizens participate in the research process. They use Diary Notes Multimedia to record, take pictures, and retrieve GPS data. Currently, over 100 citizen scientists are using the app everyday.
